Donald Piskor

June 24, 1943 - June 03, 2017

Donald Piskor of Port Austin, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2017 in Tarpon Springs, Florida. He was 73.

Don was the first of four children born to Edmund and Eugenia (Abraham) Piskor in Detroit on June 24, 1943.

A 1961 graduate of Warren High School, Don went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Eastern Michigan University. While in college, Don worked in a pizzeria in Ypsilanti owned by Tom Monaghan who later grew the business to become Domino’s Pizza Inc.

After college, Don took a job with The Ford Motor Company at the River Rouge Complex where he worked in the steel mill as a Supervisor for 28 years. He and his brother, John, also owned and operated My Brother’s Place in Port Austin.

Don loved his family very much. He was a father who worked long hard hours to put his three children through college. His motivation was that no person could ever take away an education, and he was determined that his children receive a proper one. Their success in life was something that made him very proud. His pride for his family extended on when each of his grandchildren were born.

Port Austin was where Don called home. He loved to spend time with his family and friends at the family cottage, and could often be found on Lake Huron fishing for perch with his father and family, or sitting on the back patio watching the sunset. He was well known and loved by many in the small town. Don was a Detroit Red Wings fan. Watching games while spending his winter months in Florida was a ritual. The love for the game was something Don loved to share with all. Don was a man of many talents. He could fix almost anything. He was a great problem-solver; coming up with some very creative solutions.

Don is survived by his three children: Donna (Steve) Frellick of Asheville, North Carolina, Darlene Trimble of Washington Township, Michigan, Christopher Piskor (Kristie Harrington) of Cadillac, Michigan; five grandchildren: Emma, Madeline, Reed, Hayden and Adyson; his father, Edmund; sister, Patricia both of Warren; brothers, John (Debbie) of Ann Arbor, Thomas (Iris) of Delray Beach Florida; niece, Lisa (Michael) Treece of Clinton Township; great nieces, Vanessa and Dakota; great nephew, Lucas of Clinton Township and longtime love and companion Beverly Marciniak of Dunedin, Florida.

Don was preceded in death by his mother, Eugenia and a granddaughter, Emily Rose.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held in Port Austin at a later date.
