"Gary and I were best friends in grade school. Then my family moved away and we lost touch for 45 years or so. I recently had the good fortune to see a post on FB by his sister Judy . I reached out and chatted with her a couple of days I was able to take her and Gary out for lunch. We spent a few hours catching up and taking about old times. I am so sad that we didn’t get the chance to meet again we made plans to get together soon unfortunately that won’t happen now☹️ Thank you Judy for getting us together one last time Gary was a good man and friend. He was my pal when I really needed one. Your dad was a really good man too like father like son. And your mom is a sweetheart too. I am very sad but at least we know he isn’t hurting anymore. I am rambling so I’m going to end it here. Judy I hope me and vicky can get together with you and Paul for dinner and conversation sometime soon. "

"Right off the "get-go" when meeting Gary in the mid '70s, I knew he was special. He certainly was that type person. A good friend and I took in his lectures in Petoskey and at Ferris which were amazing. He was the perfect combination of wit and intelligence. "The Good Die Young", evident with Gary. Condolences to the family. Judy, you are a special lady and I Ella is so fortunate to have such a strong daughter. RIP, Gary "

"Gary was a friend from school in Cadillac, starting at Lincoln Elementary in our neighborhood and through high school. We only were in touch one time since then but I am heartbroken to learn of his passing. Gary was a person I thought of and spoke of through the years. Even with the distance of time, I will miss my friend very much and remember him drumming in the garage of the family home and all the innocent mischief that went with his creative intelligence. My sympathy and regards to his mom, sister and all his family. "

"Gary was the older brother I never wanted!! We were the best of friends, always together when younger as our moms were best friends. We drifted apart in high school, but stayed in touch throughout my military career and his move to Las Vegas. We'd "reclaimed" our friendship over the past few years. He will always remain my brother. Rest in peace Gary Dean!"

"Everybody knows how brilliant Gary was. From solving homicides as a coroner out in Las Vegas, to technical adviser on a hit tv show, to touring the country giving speeches on coroner and pathology work,to being a master at music, Gary could and did do it all. But we, the family, remember Gary for the simple things....Christmas Eve at my Moms yearly party, to being the photographer and band at our weddings, to vacation trips in Canada, where Gary would always lead the songs with his guitar around the campfire, so many years ago. He was such a wonderful person, always willing to take the time to lend an ear, and just listen to you. He really was one in a million. He was easily the family favorite and we are all going to miss him...miss him. A lot. Thank you for being part of our lives, Gary. We love you and will miss you. "

"Gary and I first met at the Clark County Coroner's office right after he moved to Las Vegas. I was working as a Organ Coordinator for Nevada Donor Network and we immediately bonded and started playing music together. This branched into playing and recording on the first SkinnerRat CD. We then talked about playing out live which we did with his friend Dick Wagner who wrote 'Welcome to my Nightmare' with Alice Cooper. We even played a song from the album on stage. I will never forget that night. Highlight of my life! Another great time was hanging out with Blue Oyster Cult band after a Vegas show and meeting Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom. WOW! Thank you Gary for all the good times, the "couch music sessions' with other musicians and all the great discussions on all sorts of topics. Going to miss those iconic rock concert tee-shirts and business suit ties. What an amazing ride and I will never forget your friendship and kindness. Thank you Judy for sending me the recent SkinnerRat CD. He said he was very proud of it. And now I'm off to listen to the fourth and final SkinnerRat CD. Rest in Peace Dr T. Love you Rock God! You will be missed!"
