Joyce Elaine Cooley

December 12, 1935 - February 04, 2018

Joyce Elaine Cooley of Cadillac passed away, Sunday, February 4, 2018 after a short illness at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was 82.

Joyce was born December 12, 1935 in Tustin, Michigan to Sidney and Edith (Hammer) Madole and they preceded her in passing.

She moved to Cadillac from Westland and worked at Mitchell Bentley Corp. for 18 years. Joyce also spent time as a nanny for several area teachers.
Joyce was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #298 and American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed bowling, dancing and met the love of her life on the dance floor. Together, Joyce and Kenneth danced regularly for over 20 years. Joyce loved spending time and going to lunch with her two daughters. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren. She loved taking care of them and never missed an opportunity to support them at their events.

On September 30, 1972 in Cadillac she married Kenneth Orsen Cooley and he survives her along with her daughters: Alberta Barnes of Cadillac and Tina (Doug) Scott of Boon; step-daughters: Tina Alexander, Tammy Bilyea both of Cadillac and Toni Cooley of Alpena; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in passing by a step-son, Terry Cooley; two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Peterson Funeral and Cremation Services in Cadillac with Reverend Ken Nydam officiating. Friends may meet the family from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
