Monica Rose Colcord

April 09, 1955 - April 10, 2018

“The death of a Mother is the first sorrow wept without her.”

Monica Rose Colcord of Cadillac went to be with our Lord on April 10, 2018.
Monica was born on April 9, 1955 in Muskegon, to Virginia (Clark) and Lemuel Ingersoll.

To know her was to love her. Our Mother was amazing! Her earthly life was not an easy one. She struggled through hardship, trauma and adversity. Throughout her struggles she kept intact her admirable spirit. Our mom was kind, sweet, and generous to a fault. She was scrappy, silly, and hilarious. She made us laugh constantly (sometimes from embarrassment). She loved each one of us individually and fiercely. She fostered among us a deep bond and instilled in us the importance of family and being there for one another. This lesson is more important than ever as we learn to navigate life without the heart of our family.

Mom enjoyed computer games and painting. She was an excellent cook. Her love of candy was legendary. Mom loved to work in her yard. She found much joy in the nurturing of nature. Mostly she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, all of whom she took immense pride in.

Mom was one of ten children. Ken (Sandy) Ingersoll; Theresa (Ben) Garvey; Ray (Val) Ingersoll; Mike Ingersoll, Tony (Pam) Ingersoll , Kathy Hannum (Russ Bogart), Angela Ingersoll, Rita Ingersoll (Freddy Gallegos), and Mary Ingersoll . She loved her siblings.

Mom had seven children: Larry Colcord II, Evelyn (Andy) Hirdning, Katrina Colcord (Mike Carey), Aaron Colcord Sr., David (Elizabeth) Sparks, Zachary Stewart and Ethan (Christine) Hunt. We were her world.

Mom had twelve grandchildren: Larry III, Isaac, Anthony, Lillian, Aaron Jr., Moira, Dublin, Marshall, Arianna, Jaxon, Truett and Pearl. These children she cherished.

Welcoming her to Heaven were her Father Lemuel Ingersoll and former husband Larry Colcord. Her loving circle will include her adored Grandmother Mary Elizabeth Clark.

“In the end, we’ll all become stories.” Keep telling hers; keep her alive in your hearts as we will.

Remember her spirit and heart; she left so much of them behind in us.

Funeral services will be held 1:00PM Monday, April 16, 2018 at Peterson Funeral & Cremation Services in Cadillac with Pastor Tad Mellish officiating. Burial will be at Ingersoll Cemetery in Fife Lake. Friends may meet the family from 11:00 AM until services Monday at the funeral home.

"I would like to congratulate the person, or persons, who wrote the obituary. You did a beautiful job of describing Monica. I have known Monica, and the rest of the Ingersoll Family, for as long as I can remember. Their house was one of my favorite places to go when I was just a kid. In 1973 I married Angela Ingersoll, and became part of the Ingersoll family for almost 22 years. During that time I got to know Monica even better. She was always silly and so full of energy. She made me laugh every time I talked to her. I still can’t believe that she has passed. The world seems so much lonelier that she is no longer with us. Knowing that we must all walk this path in the end is of no consolation. My heart goes out to the Ingersoll Family, and especially to Monica’s Children, and Grand Children. May the Heavenly Father comfort us all, during this time of heartache and loss. You will be missed dearly Monica."

"Evie and Trina I was shocked to hear of the death of your Mom. I wanted to come to the funeral but the weather was nasty. I still have all the pictures and if you don't want to come to Muskegon I could meet you girls half way. I always enjoyed talking to your Mom and she had a beautiful smile and heart"
