Helen V. Schut

Helen V. Schut of Cadillac passed away Friday morning, June 8, 2018 at Samaritas Senior Living in Cadillac. She was 93.

Helen was born August 5, 1924 in Cadillac to Kalman and Mary (Horvath) Fuzi who immigrated from Hungary and they preceded her in death. On November 13, 1943 in Novi she married Henry “Bud” Schut and he preceded her in death on February 28, 2017.

She attended Berry School. Mrs. Schut was a life- long member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She was a resident of Cadillac all her life and worked at the Garment Factory as well as Swanson’s Grocery. She was an avid Detroit Tigers Baseball fan and enjoyed traveling and trips to the casino. Mrs. Schut loved Christmas and enjoyed many trips to Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland in Frankemuth. She also loved Disney World and enjoyed many trips there.

She is survived by her children, Bernadette (Steve) McLeod of Cadillac, Allen (Louise) Schut of West Bend, WI; 7 grandchildren: Lindy (Matt) Weidmeyer, Andrew Schut, John Schut, Shannon (Vince) Vatter, Michael (Katie) McLeod, Elizabeth (Joseph) Dubiel, and Thomas (Robin) McLeod; 11 great grandchildren: Mason, Hailey Mae, Jillian, Alyssa, Vann, Peyton, Emmalie, Preston, Madison, Castle, Vienna.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by brothers: Kalman, Julius and Jess Fuzi; sisters: Mary Nemeth, Rose Gadacz, and Ilona Fuzi and an uncle, Stephen “Sagi” (Theresa Szabo) Horvath.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 15, 2018 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac with Reverend Fr. Michael Janowski as celebrant. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cadillac.
