Clinton B. "Todd" Sawyer

Clinton B. “Todd” Sawyer of Cadillac died Sunday afternoon, July 1, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Detroit. He was 95.
He was born on May 22, 1923 in Evart, Michigan to Samuel & Lena Mae (Lambert) Sawyer.
Todd graduated from Evart High School and went to work on the family farm and later was drafted in the United States Army and served at the end of World War II. Upon coming home he worked in the oil fields before being drafted again during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Monterey, California where he met his wife, the former Lela Loza, and was married on February 17, 1951. Later the couple moved back to the Detroit area where they started their family.
He worked at the Sears Store in Cadillac, Joynt Automotive for ten years and later Speeds Automotive before retiring in 1985.
He is survived by his children, Patti (Courtney) Morgan of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan and Karen (John) Stott of Powder Springs, Georgia; grandchildren: Courtney, Joseph (Ashley), Elizabeth (Dan), John Paul, Christopher; great-grandchildren, June and Lucas and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lela on February 4, 2011; brothers, Laurel and Lyle Sawyer and sister, Doris Kanipe.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, July7, 2018 at Peterson Funeral and Cremation Services in Cadillac with Deacon Frank Kopacz officiating and full military rites under the auspices of the Cadillac Area Honor Guard. Friends may meet the family Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cherry Valley Cemetery in Hartwick Township in Osceola County.

"We were long time neighbors of Todd and Lela on Park Street in Lake City. Todd always had a smile and a story for us when we visited our cabin through the years. Michele's parents remember him fondly as well. It was an honor to know "Mr. Sawyer" and he will be missed!"
