Brent Nathan Smith

November 27, 1969 - August 05, 2018

Brent Nathan Smith of Mesick passed away, Sunday, August 5, 2018. He was 48.

Brent was born November 27, 1969 in Cadillac. He graduated from Mesick High School in 1988. Brent worked in construction in Northern Michigan, beginning his career at an early age. He owned and operated his own business, Framing by Twister for many years. Brent took great pride in his work and was admired by many. He put his heart into his work; building homes, not just houses. Families appreciated his attention to detail so much that he built repeat homes for countless families.

He was an incredibly loving father and took a very hands on role in the lives of his children. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping and teaching his children those activities. Brent was an extremely loyal friend and was always willing to help others.

Brent is survived by his children, Hali Smith of Arizona and Dirk Smith of Mesick; their mother, Jennie Zingelman of Mesick; his mother, Judy Smith of Mesick; father, Tom Holmes of Copemish; brother, William McDill; grandmother, Hattie Meadows of Baldwin; Uncle Duke (Jenny) Wagatha of Mesick and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Walt Smith and a nephew, Nicholas Floury.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Mesick Amvets Post 120 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Brent’s children to assist with educational expenses; an account in their names has been set up at Huntington Bank in Mesick.
