Mary E. Streff

July 21, 1952 - September 13, 2018

Mary E. Streff of Cadillac passed away Thursday morning, September 13, 2018 at her home. She was 66.

Mary was born July 21, 1952 in Cadillac, Michigan to Leonard and Dorothy (Pell) Marshall, Jr. and they preceded her in passing.

She graduated from Cadillac High School in 1970 and worked in the loan department at Northwestern Bank for several years. Mary then worked at Network Reporting for 25 years before retiring. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Cadillac.

Her family was the greatest joy of her life and she loved spending time with them. Mary married her high school sweetheart, Gregory and the two of them had a special connection through their whole marriage; fly fishing, skiing, golfing, biking and traveling together. Mary loved to dance; she could often be found humming a tune or dancing in the kitchen. She treated everyone with the golden rule and loved her friends. She was a strong woman and never wavered in her strength.

She is survived by her husband, Greg of Cadillac; daughters, Angela (Timothy) Perry of Gaylord and Christina Streff (Paul Rybiski) of Middleville; granddaughters: Anna Perry and Ava Streff; two brothers, Jack (Linda) Marshall of Cadillac and Jerry (Mary) Marshall of Midland; several nieces and nephews and many special friends.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 17, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Cadillac with Reverend Scott Torkko officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society Hope Lodge of Grand Rapids. An online guestbook is available at

"Although we only knew Mary for the past seven plus years or so, we had an instant connection right from the beginning and a very special bond that made us feel like best friends forever!! Mary was such a special lady and she had such a quiet dignity and strength about her that was so admirable. She faced her battles without complaints and with such courage and determination. Those of us who knew her learned so much from her and we all strive to be just like her..,, As time helps us heal, let us all hold our memories of her and the special times we shared close to our heart. We will never forget her and our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this sad and difficult time. With sincere sympathy..."

"Mary added so much joy and happiness to everyone who knew her. Memories abound from all of our Sisters' Reunions. Mary's giggles, laughter, and witticisms all added to our fun times together. A favorite memory was when she tried to teach us a Country Western Dance. How patient she was with the three of us! She lived her life with dignity and compassion. Whatever challenges Mary encountered in life, she met them with strength and courage. Words cannot express how much we will miss Mary, but her memory will live forever in our hearts."
