Zella M. "Billye" Benedict

Zella Mary “Billye” Benedict of Cadillac passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Country Oaks AFC Home in Cadillac. She was 102. “Billye” was born on April 12, 1916 in Lapeer, Michigan to Charles & Mina (Ducker) Bothwell. On October 15, 1938 she married Marshall W. “Mike” Benedict and he preceded her in death on February 5, 2006.

Mrs. Benedict had lived in Cadillac since 1938 and was employed at Milliken’s in Cadillac from 1961 to 1996. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cadillac since the early 1940’s and the Cadillac Country Club for many years. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida after they retired, sewing (making clothes), golf, playing bridge, Euchre and Skipbo, was an avid reader, loved music and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughters: Rebecca (Dr. Kenneth) Kleyn of Williamsburg and Beverly (Jack) Lewis of Cadillac; 4 grandchildren: Brian (Liisa) Blick, Kimberly (Vic) Freese, Chelsea (Tim) Nicholas, and Brittany (TJ) Johnson; 4 step grandchildren: Julia (Rick) Vleugel, Dana (Jim) Vance, Amy Garber, and Heidi Kleyn; 7 great grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren; and a nephew, Greg (Cris) Connaughton.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jodi Blick in 2012 and a sister, Zola Connaughton.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church in Cadillac with Reverend Peggy Huston and Reverend Russ Brandt officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Friends may meet Beverly and her family from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM Friday, October 19, 2018 at Peterson Funeral & Cremation Services in Cadillac and the entire family Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until services. Her final resting place will be Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to Munson Hospice.
