Emily Jean Saunders of Cadillac passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. She was 90.
Jean was born April 11, 1928 in Sycamore, Illinois to Joseph Henry and Olive Janie (Hodge) Trethewey and they preceded her in passing.
On April 11, 1945 in Cadillac she married Harry Saunders and the two of them had a 73 year marriage that was a true of example of love and commitment to one another.
Jean was a long time member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Cadillac and had been active in the women’s guild there. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Jean enjoyed sewing, cooking, knitting and traveling with her husband, sister and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Harry of Cadillac; daughters, Linda (Al) Thomas of Cadillac and Patricia (Marvin) Jones of Tustin; grandchildren: Kevin (Stacy) Thomas of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Marvin L. (Regina) Jones of Leroy, Amy (Steven) Harkle of Belleville, Michigan; great-grandchildren: Jaden, Riley, Marvin R. (Heather), Joseph, Brittney, Jesse (Chelsea), Michael (McKenzie), Stephen, Sophie; great-great-grandchildren: Edward, Paizlea, Mason, Emma, Taylor, Carter, Lilly and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Gordon Saunders in 2005; in infant daughter, Emily; an infant grandson, Stacy Thomas; a brother, Thomas Trethewey and a sister, Grace Goode.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 10, 2018 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church (815 Lincoln Street, Cadillac, MI 49601) with Jerry Hoekwater Lay Minister officiating. Friends may meet the family Sunday, December 9, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 Pm at the Peterson Funeral and Cremation Services in Cadillac. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
