Elaine M. Galvanek

April 21, 1940 - January 28, 2019

Elaine M. Galvanek of Cadillac was passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 at her home. She was 78.

Mrs. Galvanek was born April 21, 1940 in Reed City to Clarence and Grace (Lucas) Rothig and they preceded her in death.

Elaine grew up in Luther and graduated from Luther High School in 1958 where she met her high school sweetheart, Dennis Galvanek. They were married January 12, 1959 and were married for 60 years. They began their family of six children. Once their children were in school Elaine went to work at Mercy Hospital as an administrative clerk for 15 years. After the children graduated they enjoyed spending winters in Florida. After retiring from Mercy Hospital she enjoyed helping out at the family business, Galvanek’s Auto & RV.

She loved her flower garden and enjoyed the wildlife at their home. Elaine also loved spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Clayhill Christian Church in Hoxeyville.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Dennis; children: Edward (Elaine Rockwell) Galvanek of Cadillac, Loretta (Derek) Watson of Beulah, Chris (Laura) Galvanek of Mesick, Lisa (Dave) Delancey of Mesick, Charles (Kristine) Galvanek of Cadillac and Lynn (Gary) Moyer of Arizona. She was also blessed with many grandchildren, bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving relatives also include, sisters: Linda Block of Reed City, Nancy Eckholm of Muskegon; sisters-in-law, Charlene Rothig of Luther, Barbara (Steve) Hobbins of Cadillac and brother-in-law, Howard Beyer of Cedarville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters: Gerald Rothig, Clarence “Butch” Rothig, Carol Young and Lola Beyer and a grandson, Kevin Nolf.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Peterson Funeral & Cremation Services in Cadillac with Reverend John Martek and Reverend Robert Mattern officiating. Burial will be at Banker Cemetery in Hoxeyville. Friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 5-7 PM at the Funeral Home.
