Marian J. Longstreet

April 18, 1931 - May 22, 2019



Marian Joyce (Elenbaas) Longstreet of Cadillac passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Sunnyside Assisted living in Cadillac. She was 88.

Marian was born April 18, 1931 to Isaac and Mabel (Taylor) Elenbaas in Lucas. She graduated as valedictorian from McBain Rural Agricultural School in 1949. On August 26, 1950 she married Harvey (Duke) Longstreet. Marian retired from Western Concrete Products. She was a life-long member of Lucas Rehoboth Reformed Church where she taught Sunday school and catechism and was a member of the Dorcas Circle.

Marian enjoyed gardening, flowers, fruits and vegetables , she always grew more than she needed and enjoyed sharing with neighbors, family and friends. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and needlework. She also was an avid reader until she could no longer see to read. She loved her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You seldom left her home after a visit without a special baked good, vegetables from her garden or a handmade gift she made especially for you.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey “Duke” Longstreet of Cadillac; daughters, Pamela Smits of Cadillac and Lori (Everett) Beech of Pampa, Texas; grandchildren: Chad (Amanda) Smits of Middleville and Rachel (Taylor) Williams of Katy, Texas; great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Jackson and Hayley-Kate; brother, Ronald (Susanne) Elenbaas of Traverse City; nieces; nephews; cousins and many loving friends.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Jerry; a brother, Russell; a sister, Doris; sister-in-law, Joanne; brother-in-law, Lyle and a son-in-law, Daniel Smits.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas with Reverend Kevin Schutt officiating. Friends may meet the family Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 Pm at the Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas. Burial will take place at Mount View Cemetery in McBain.
