Ella Mae Kirkby

January 03, 1928 - May 29, 2019

 

 

Ella Mae Kirkby of Charlotte formerly of Tustin died Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Moore’s Country Living in Charlotte, Michigan. She was 91. Ella was born on January 3, 1928 in Dover Township, Lake County, Michigan to Roderick Wm. & Clara B. (Barnes) Robertson.

Ella graduated from Luther High School and in November of 1947 she married Lewis Wm. “Bill” Kirkby in Lansing, Michigan. Mrs. Kirkby had been employed at Oldsmobile for 34 years retiring in the late 1980’s. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was known for her hospitality and her door was always open for friends to visit. For several years she and her husband enjoyed winters in Florida.

Survivors include her children: Carolyn (Ken) Hankamp of Potterville, Michigan and Ken Kirkby of Holland, Michigan; son-in-law, Greg Lefevre of Dewitt, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Wm. “Bill” Kirkby in 2010, her daughter, Carol Ann Lefevre in 2002 and a brother, Dale Robertson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Moore’s Country Living and Sparrow Hospice for their exceptional care.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, June 3, 2019 at Peterson Funeral & Cremation Services in Cadillac with Reverend Ken Nydam officiating. Burial will be at Dover Township Cemetery in Lake County. Friends may meet the family from 10:30 AM until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
