Dennis Harold Johnson

March 22, 1954 - July 02, 2019

Dennis Harold Johnson of Harrietta went to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at his home. He was 65.

Dennis was born March 22, 1954 in Muskegon to Harold L. and Joyce L. (Allen) Johnson and they preceded him in death. At two he and his family moved to the Johnson Family Farm in Bear Lake. He graduated from Onekama Schools.

He retired in 2009 after 33 years working in the oil field as a truck driver. Dennis had a wonderful sense of humor and loved giving others unique nicknames. He did a lot of handyman work in the community, cut grass for the Village of Harrietta and watered flowers for the Harrietta Flower Club.

Dennis liked hunting and fishing. His greatest hobby was that he was a self taught wood worker. He loved making gifts for others. He loved turning small bowls. He made one of those bowls for his mama, a candy dish.

He was a former member of the Harrietta Community Choir. He served in Fresh Start Church as head of the Building Committee, Leader of the Adult Disciple Makers Class, Church Council Member and many times he helped with the Children's Ministry. He also led the group prayer prior to the Family Worship time.

In 1972 Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Norma and she survives him along with their children, Jennifer Stephenson of Wentzville, MO and Jonathan (Melinda) Johnson of Belleville, Il; five grandchildren: Eric (Ashley) McNair, Shana Figas, Dominique Stephenson, Tyler (McNair) Johnson and Jordan Johnson; 7 great- grandchildren siblings: Linda (Mike) Jeruzal of Ludington, Randy (Dawn) Johnson, Leslie (Karen) Johnson all of Bear Lake, Marty ( Shelly) Johnson of Manistee, LuAnn (Rick) Tomaszewski of Thompsonville; numerous nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law Debra (Hull) (Rick) Blehm of Kaleva; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Dennis will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Fresh Start Church (196 S. 21 ½ Road, Boon, MI 49618.)
