Alan Richard Freysinger

With deepest sorrow and wounded hearts, we announce that Alan Richard Freysinger, beloved husband, father, and son, born on August 20, 1973 in Jackson, MI, passed away on October 5th, 2023, at his home in Mesick, MI, due to heart failure. Alan believed that a person with strong faith in God’s promises made it easier for those left behind. Though he is no longer present with us, his presence shall always be within us, a part of our hearts. Alan was a dedicated husband, father and son first and foremost. He treasured his family (including his dogs) and embraced every moment with them. He cared deeply about the people he loved. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Alan was preceded in death by his grandparents Bud and Joyce Freysinger, Jerry and Jean Masquelier, his aunts Jan Bazuin and Jill Masquelier. Alan is survived by his wife Dawn, sons Alex Freysinger and Ethan McMichael, parents Skip and Julie Freysinger, his sister Elizabeth Bercier, his mother-in-law Betty Porter, brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnnie & Kerry Thompson, and Ron & Sandi Raymond as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. From an early age, Alan loved to fish with family and friends. He was raised in the Village of Grass Lake where he had the freedom to go fishing, swimming and exploring creeks and marshes. He was a hunter, trapper and fisherman. His grandfather would often say that Alan should have been born a hundred years earlier. He held on to some old-fashioned values and desires. He graduated from high school in 1991. He later received his R.N. degree from Jackson Community College. Alan spent many years working in the health care industry. He was a true caregiver who took his job very seriously. He was a fierce patient advocate. He worked one-on-one with special needs adults where he advanced to manage adult care facilities. He completed his nursing career at Munson Hospital in Traverse City. He left behind a wide selection of tools that he accumulated to support his do-it-yourself life style. He was multi- talented and capable of tackling any task. He loved to learn and figure things out. Alan had an easy-going personality that allowed him to bring a calming effect to those around him. He was a compassionate listener for family and friends. We will miss him saying, “There isn’t anything that big a deal. Don’t stress. We’ll figure it out.” As per Alan’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service. Our family would like to thank our many friends and especially our church families at Grass Lake United Methodist Church, Jackson Free Methodist Church and Cadillac Christian Reformed Church for the many cards and prayers.
