Cynthia Maude Clark

Cynthia Clark of Reed City passed away, Friday, July 12, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Reed City surrounded by her family. She was 86. Cynthia was born January 19, 1938 in Detroit to Edgar Francis and Phyllis (Kirby) Caswell. On August 29, 1959 at St. Monica's Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan she married Chester C. Clark and he later preceded her in death on March 4, 2019. Cynthia was a career emergency room nurse. She worked primarily in Clare and Ludington. Once her husband Chet retired she took on travel nursing, working all over the country including: Kentucky, California and her favorite, Las Vegas, Nevada. The two of them would travel together to her work destinations, enjoying winters in warmer climates. Cynthia enjoyed nursing and continued to meet education requirements and hold her nursing license at the age of 86. Cynthia loved traveling, playing bridge and was always up for an adventure. She always kept her mind sharp, reading, writing and with her writing club. Cynthia loved being a mother but absolutely adored her grandchildren. She is survived by their children: Phyllis Clark of Grand Rapids, Theresa (Dale) Ekdom of Roscommon, Paul Clark of Reed City, David (Trina) Clark of Howell, and Diane (Joel) VanAntwerp of Reed City; grandchildren: Brittany Lallo and Courtany (Rick) Misner, John (Elizabeth Raffa) Ekdom, Emily (Shane Ung) Ekdom, Cynthia Ekdom, Noah (Brennan) Ekdom, Hannah Clark (Ethan Anderson), Olivia (Jake Simmons) Clark, Matthew Clark, Isabelle Clark, Sophie VanAntwerp, and Nathan VanAntwerp; great grandchildren: Lillianna, Aiden & Corbin Misner; sister, Patricia (Macay) Drinkwater; sister-in-law, Geraldine Clark and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by siblings: Peter (Rosemary) Caswell, June (Joseph) Gibbons, Hazel (Al) LaCroix, Phillipa (Robert) VanOrden, Edgar Caswell; in-laws, Gene (Maxine) Clark and Betty (Harold) Adams. A Memorial mass will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (9878 US-10, Evart, MI 49631). Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until mass at 11:00 AM.
