Diane Helen Bentley

Diane Helen (Correll) Bentley of Cadillac passed away on September 20, 2023. She was 93.Born in Bangor, PA to Ralph and Helen Correll on November 6, 1929, she was a graduate of Bangor High and Sacred Heart School of Nursing and served as an RN in the Army Nursing Corps. On September 14, 1954, she married the love of her life, M. Dean Bentley and they shared 45 wonderful years together. She was the loving and loved matriarch of our family and we were lucky to call her our mom. “Myrt” was first mate to the captain of their beloved boat, the “Myrt-Teenys” and they enjoyed many years cruising the great lakes. She was an avid bowler - with the same Thursday league since 1956 - even had her highest score of 246 at age 92! She played tennis well into her 80’s and also enjoyed skiing, golfing, knitting, gardening, mushroom hunting, watching football, Sunday dinners and watercolors. Countless friends and family cherish her hand-painted cards. Our mom loved holidays and had a “get up” for all of her favorites. So many hats! She also loved traveling - especially spending time in Gulf Shores. She will be remembered by many for her kind, thoughtful and slightly mischievous nature. This month, she was honored by the Cadillac Philharmonic for over 60 years of dedication and support. She was an active member of Saint Ann’s Church and spent years as a volunteer at the Shepherd’s Table and Second Chance Resale. At 75, she started working at Lakeview Manor - and always said it kept her young! Diane is survived by her six children, Mike (Karen) Bentley, Carl Bentley, Stephen Bentley, Lynn (Carlos) deAraujo, Lori (Sean) Burns, Katie Bentley; grand children - Sarah, Matthew, Molly, Stuart, Emmet; five great grandchildren; countless granddogs; a sister, Agnes Nigro and brother, Richard Correll, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband. A memorial mass will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Saint Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac with Rev. Fr. Michael Janowski as celebrant. Her final resting place will be Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cadillac. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the mass at church.
