Gerald D. Corder

Gerald Duane "JerryÃ¢â‚¬Â Corder of Mesick passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was 78. Gerald was born on October 12, 1939 in Alma to Ira E. & Jennie Marie (Ashley) Corder and they preceded him in death. Jerry was a 1957 graduate of Mesick Consolidated School and shortly after that he met the love of his life Geraldine K. Beckelic and they were married in 1960 and would have celebrated their 58th anniversary in October. They were blessed with 2 daughters, Robin and Kelly. His career began at Consumers Power Gas P & T in Williamston in 1963. In 1968 he transferred to the Cadillac office and joined the Engineering Department where he remained until retiring in 1999. Jerry enjoyed his work so much that he continued working as a Sub-Contractor for Consumers Energy until 2004 and was a dedicated piece of Consumers Energy for 41 years. In 1974 they moved to Mesick where they still reside and in 1983 Jerry and Geraldine "JeriÃ¢â‚¬Â purchased and began a successful restaurant named "Jeri's Family InnÃ¢â‚¬Â in Mesick until they both retired in 2005. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, spending time in the woods, feeding the deer & turkeys around his house where he was able to enjoy watching them from his living room window and even from his golf cart that he used to carry the deer food to them. They enjoyed annual vacations to Florida and Branson. He also loved his annual out west hunting trips with friends. He was a dedicated Michigan State Spartan fan, watching every game including the annual springtime Green & White game. Most of all Gerald loved his family and friends! Survivors include his wife of 57 years Geraldine of Mesick, 2 daughters: Robin Dohms of Yuma and Kelly (Randy) Lycka of Mesick; 4 grandchildren: Jenny (Josh) Johnson, Dillon Lycka, Miranda (Ryan) Swett, and Shelbe (Trevor) Burl; 4 great grandchildren: Travis, Trevor, Braddie and Taylor; his brother, Larry Corder of Stuart, Florida; and a brother, James Woodworth of Eaton Rapids and a sister, Carol (Steve) Brooks of Ceresco, Michigan ; his mother-in-law, Norma Beckelic Wheeler of Mesick; In-laws: Judy Bulock, Rosie Beckelic, Paul (Trina) Beckelic and Dan (Nancy Beckelic; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Jerry was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gerald Beckelic, Brother-in-law, Terry Beckelic, niece, Kathy Beckelic, nephew, Tyrus Bulock, sister-in-law, Julianna Corder, brother, Robert Woodworth and son-in-law, Kenneth Dohms. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Mesick United Methodist Church in Mesick with Pastor James Martin officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be take place at Antioch Township Cemetery in Wexford County at a later date.
