Gwen Elaine Nix

Gwen Elaine Nix of Tustin passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was 64. Gwen was born June 28, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to Conrad Emory and Sylvia Eldora (Lundberg) Houle and they preceded her in passing. Gwen graduated from Pine River High School. She owned and operated Tustin Corners for over 10 years. After that Gwen used her people skills as a customer service representative for Crystal Flash for 19 years until 2012. She was the owner of Cy\'s Body Shop in Cadillac until 2017. She had a caring heart and always put the needs of others before her own. Gwen loved animals, rehabilitating sick or injured wildlife and caring for her own pets. She loved spending time with friends and family and had a standing coffee date with her sister-in-law, Char, every morning. She kept an immaculate house and yard full of beautiful flowers. Gwen enjoyed the outdoors, deer hunting, fishing and reading. She enjoyed occasional trips to the casino and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Family was first in Gwen\'s life, especially her grandchildren. She cherished time at the pond with them and supported them at every event. On July 31, 1971 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac she married Bruce Dale Nix and he survives her along with their children: Kimberly (Eric) Justin of Leroy, Jennifer (Adam) Gilde of McBain, Dale (Jessica) Nix of Tustin; grandchildren: Kierra Elaine, McKenna, Brecken, Nicholas, Derek Bruce and siblings: Janice Markey of Canton, Dianne (Charlie) Jaskolski of Plymouth, Merry Lynn Herdell of Westland and Vincent Houle of Ferndale. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emmarie and three brothers, Alan, Larry and David. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM, Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Peterson Funeral and Cremation Services in Cadillac with Pastor Adam Grill officiating. Friends may meet the family Sunday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Burdell Township Cemetery in Tustin.
