Jeanette Baas

Jeanette Baas of Falmouth went to be with her Lord Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. She was 87. She was born January 13, 1925 in Richland Township, Missaukee County to John and Grace (Beukema) Meekhof and they preceded her in death. On May 30, 1945 she married Orie T. Baas at the Meekhof Family Home in Lucas and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1992. Mrs. Baas was a member of Aetna Christian Reformed Church for many years. She loved her church and was passionate about it. She was a woman of great faith and prayed often. Jeanette volunteered for Cooperative Ministry of Missaukee County for 25 years at the food pantry. She worked on the family farm with her husband and raised four children. She loved her family, gardening and enjoyed canning fruit, especially peaches, which she did just six weeks ago. She made the best, most delicious apple pie ever. She is survived by her children: Gordon (Peggy) Baas of Cadillac, Jan Brunink of Tustin and Shirley Nimtz of Niles, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Mary (Ron) Wynia of Grand Rapids; 12 grandchildren: Brenda (Al) Van Den Berg, Darin Baas, Melanie Baas, Brad (Gwen) Nimtz, Dan (Sam) Nimtz, Scott Nimtz, Jeff (Kelly) Baas, Craig (Amanda) Baas, Tony (Val) Brunink, Kristi Brunink, Bridgett Brunink and Brittany Brunink; two great grandchildren, Trenton and Jacob Brunink and in-laws: Gerald â€œJuneâ€ Bosch, Elsie Meekhof, Rosie Meekhof, Harvey (Marilyn) Baas, Tena DeKorver, Anne Baas and Doris Baas. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Alice; a grandson, Randy Baas, son, Ted Baas, and many siblings and in-laws. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Aetna Christian Reformed Church, 3459 South 8 Mile Road, Falmouth, Michigan 49632, with Reverend Spencer Tuttle officiating. Friends may meet the family at the church Friday, from 4-7 p.m or Saturday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. For a more lasting memorial you are asked to consider the Cooperative Ministry of Missaukee County. Arrangements are being made by the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
