John S. Croskey

John S. Croskey of Cadillac passed away Thursday evening, October 27, 2016 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. He was 82. John was born on July 14, 1934 in Cresson, Pennsylvania to Stephen & Mary (Prokop) Croskey and they preceded him in death. John graduated in 1952 from Cresson High School went on to attend college and later graduated from the Michigan State Police Academy. Soon after graduation he was called into service with the United States Army and served from April of 1957 to March of 1959. After returning from his service to our country he rejoined the State Police and served at several posts throughout Michigan for 32 years and retired on Dec. 31, 1988. While working as a State Trooper John continued his education and graduated from Ferris State University in 1976. Mr. Croskey attended St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. He was also a former member of the Fraternal Order of Police for many years. John enjoyed gardening, hunting, cars, Detroit Lions and Red Wings. On June 27, 1959 in Melvindale, Michigan he married the former Audrey A. Waske and she survives him along with their children: Stephanie (Ralph) Jones of Brownstown, Michigan, John Croskey & FiancÃƒÂ© Mary Tooker of Howell, Michigan, Leslie (Dan) McCall of Whitmore Lake, Michigan, David Croskey (Michelle King) of Traverse City, Michigan, Susan (Stephen) Foust of Green Oak Township, Michigan, and Mary (Todd) Dillon of North Bend, Washington; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Ronald (Anne) Croskey of Clare. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Croskey. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 5, 2016 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac with Reverend Fr. Bryan Medlin as celebrant. John's final resting place will be Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cadillac. Friends may meet the family from 4-8 PM Friday, November 4, 2016 at Peterson Funeral & Cremation Services in Cadillac. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital Chaplain's office.
