Larry B. Scholten

Larry B. Scholten of McBain passed away peacefully from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Thursday, May 14, 2015 surrounded by his wife and children. He was 73. He was born on October 22, 1941 in Lake Township, Missaukee County to Ben & Christine (Schut) Scholten. Larry worked nearly his entire life on the farm he grew up on in Richland Township. A lifelong member of Rehoboth Reformed Church he lived his faith by serving as both Elder and Deacon and also his willingness to help his neighbor in any capacity. Larry will be deeply missed by all those who loved him and by all who were blessed to have known him and will be remembered for his hearty laugh, sense of humor, integrity, love and commitment to his family and friends. On June 7, 1963 at the Cuttlerville CRC he married Mick VanderMolen and she survives him along with their children: Lisa (Bruce) DeBoer, Mark Scholten, Amy (Don) Walker, Jason Scholten and friend Gloria Smith with children Megan and McKenzie; grandchildren: Cody (Jennifer) DeBoer, Cortni (Patrick) McCarthy, Laryn and Levi Seelye, Stevie and Lucas Scholten, Peyton Scholten, Madison and Brooke Richards; Brothers and Sisters: Janet (Doug) Mickens, Mel (Arlene) Scholten, Betty Ellens and Bernie (Barb) Scholten; Brothers and Sisters-in-law; Donna Scholten, Cecile Scholten, Ruby VanderMolen, Joan (Ed) Brower, Tret (Roger) Hulst, Sylvia (Bernie) Wiersma, John (Karen) VanderMolen, Lois VanderMolen, Pat (Herb) Wothuis; many nieces and nephews and special friends, Scott Seelye and Heather Schram. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter-in-law, Valerie Scholten, Brothers, Walt, Jim and Lee Scholten, Brothers and sisters-in-law, Oris Jacobson, Gail Scholten, Alfred VanderMolen and Ruth Droog. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 18, 2015 at Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas with Pastor Adam Grill officiating. Burial will be at Lucas Cemetery. Friends may meet the family from 2-6 PM Sunday at the McBain Chapel of Peterson Funeral Homes (212 E. Maple St.).
