Linda Marie Hopkins

Linda Marie Hopkins, 78, of Cadillac, Michigan, passed away peacefully, August 10, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born August 4, 1947 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and was lovingly raised by Ferdinand and Bernice Ortowski. Linda grew up with a strong sense of compassion and care for others. She graduated from West Catholic High School and went on to attend the Mercy School of Practical Nursing in Cadillac. After earning her LPN nursing degree, she began her career at Cadillac Mercy Hospital. Eventually, Linda worked for Cadillac Family Physicians, where she cared for patients for over a decade before transitioning into respiratory therapy at Airway Oxygen. Linda’s nursing work was more than just a profession—it was a calling. She had a natural gift for caring for others and found deep fulfillment in helping patients feel comfortable, heard, and supported. Whether tending to someone in need during her nursing years or providing vital respiratory care, Linda treated every patient with compassion, dignity, and respect. Her gentle presence and reassuring smile left a lasting impression on those she served. Outside of her career, Linda was an avid swimmer who also enjoyed skiing, golf, racquetball, and waterskiing. She was well known for her baking—her fruit pies were a family favorite that brought joy to countless gatherings. Linda was very proud of her family. She absolutely loved family gatherings and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters. Linda is survived by her loving husband, Roger Hopkins; her children, Steven and daughter-in-law Jennifer Hopkins of Alanson, Michigan, and Alan Hopkins and David McCoy-Galicia of Los Angeles, California; her cherished grandchildren, Hannah and grandson-in-law Daniel Burnett, Hope Hopkins with boyfriend Brett Sobczak, and her sister, Donna Newell, of Lansing, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Ferdinand Ortowski, and brother Rick Bourdon. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Father Michael Janowksi officiating. Friends may meet the family Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
