Margaret A. (Bourassa) Cardinal

Margaret A. (Bourassa) Cardinal died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Sunnyside Senior Living in Cadillac. She was 95 years old. Margaret was born in Cadillac at the home of her parents on March 28, 1922. She was the last surviving child of William R. and Ida E. (LaMarre) Bourassa who preceded her in death in 1964 and 1932 respectively. She married Neal (Bud) Cardinal in 1951 in Cadillac and he preceded her in death in 2002. Mrs. Cardinal attended St. Ann\'s School and graduated from Cadillac High School in 1940. She was employed at Romulus Air Force Base and later Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Detroit retiring after 29 years of service. She also worked for the Cadillac Chamber of Commerce for 5 years while living in Mesick. With her husband, she was later affiliated with the Interlochen Golf Course while living in Interlochen for 21 years. Margaret and Bud returned to their hometown of Cadillac in 1999. Magge enjoyed being with family and friends, playing golf, reading, yard work, and listening to music. She had a special love for animals and especially dogs which gave both her and Bud many years of great companionship. She was a member of St. Ann\'s Church and very much appreciated the friendships that she made within her church family. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Kenneth (Elaine) Joynt of Cadillac and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her brothers Richard, William T., Robert, Charles (Pat) and an infant brother in 1918 ; her sisters Mary Louise Leavell, Lucille (Babe) Joynt and an infant sister in 1932; brother-in-law Francis (Dune) Leavell; sisters-in-law, Vera, Marion, Helen, and Barbara; stepmother Mary (Theibaut) Murray-Bourassa and a stepbrother Ron Murray and his wife Sandra. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Margaret\'s honor at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac. Reverend Michael Janowski will be the celebrant. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral. Margaret\'s final resting place will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cadillac. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Missaukee Humane Society in Lake City. Envelopes will be available at the church. Margaret\'s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Sunnyside Senior Living in Cadillac for their professional and loving care.
