Mildred Jean Clark

Mildred Jean Clark of Cadillac, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on August 23rd, 2025 surrounded by family at the age of 97 years old. She was born October 15th, 1927 in Flint Michigan to Enos and Mildred Ward. She was preceded in death by her husband Fredrick M. Clark, daughter Sheila Ann and son Joe (Ward) and sisters Jewel, Genevieve, and Jeanette, and by her brothers Kenneth (Duck), Enos, and Elmer. She was an active member of Mt. Morris Free Methodist church in Mt. Morris, Michigan and later the Wesleyan Church of Zephyrhills in Florida. She and Fred spent many winters in Zephyrhills, Florida and summers in Michigan camping at Otter Lake Campground. Many family fish fries were enjoyed there together. In recent years, Jean attended Northern Light Church in Cadillac in the summer and enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds at her duplex on Pearl St. In the winter she enjoyed attending Faith Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tennessee and time with her great- grand children. Jean is survived by her sons: James (Linda) Clark, Dee (Patricia) Clark, Mark (Debi) Clark and daughter-in-law, Colleen Clark. Jean was blessed with 11 grand children―Aaron (Kerri) Clark, Elizabeth AKA Lizzy Clark, Jim (Bernadette) Clark, Anissa (Nick) Candela, Christy Ostrander, Steven Clark, Michelle Clark, Melissa Clark, Scott Clark, Kelli (Paul) Czuchna, Mark (Terri) Clark along with the grand number of 20 great grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and one great, great grandchild! Jean enjoyed fishing, camping, and many shuffleboard tournaments. She enjoyed both animals and children. A woman of indomitable spirit, Jean represented strength and having raised four boys she needed it! She was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as “Hee Hee”, “Great Grandma” and “Crazy Grandma”. Jean was animated, and found humor in daily life. Her laughter and childlike joy was contagious. She looked forward to time spent with her family and treasured time spent talking with family members over the phone. Her family found enjoyment listening to Jean reminisce and tell humorous stories. Her mischievous nature and strong will gave her a big personality that her family knew well. Despite her sassy personality, she was quiet, curious and easy to talk to―always making you feel at ease and welcomed. Her hospitable nature, acceptance, and jolly laughter lives on in all of us and will always be remembered by her friends and family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with grandson, Mark Clark II and long time family friend, Pastor Jack Andrews officiating. Friends may meet the family Wednesday from 5-8 PM and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Harrison.
