Norma P. Somers

Norma P. Somers of Cadillac passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at The Lakeview. She was 92. Norma was born May 29, 1923 in Cadillac to William and Cora (Robinson) Marshall and they preceded her in death. On July 25, 1942 in Cadillac she married Percy Somers and he preceded her in death on June 14, 2002. She graduated from Cadillac High School and worked at JC Penny in Cadillac for 27 years before retiring. Norma was a lifetime member of the Independent Bible Church in Cadillac and had been a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts of America. She was a member of the Cadillac Squares Square Dancing Club as well as Curves. She enjoyed knitting, word puzzles, card games, camping and her flower gardens. Norma loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Marsha (Robert) DuVall of Cadillac, Christine (Martin) George of Portage, Indiana and William "BillÃ¢â‚¬Â (Marsha) Somers of Cadillac; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Matthew Somers; grandson in law, Christopher Lute; siblings: Lyle, Dorland, William, Arnie, Joann, Fern; two infant sisters and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Reverend David McMahon officiating. Friends may meet the family Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army.
