Patrick Harry McCormick

Patrick Harry McCormick of Cadillac passed away Tuesday morning, June 17, 2025 at Curry House Assisted Living. He was 89. Pat battled his dementia for the last three years bravely and courageously. He was born November 23, 1935 in Muskegon to Harry F. and Alpha (Anderson) McCormick. He graduated from Muskegon High School and then earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Michigan. Pat was a passionate University of Michigan alumni and sports enthusiast. Pat was a civil engineer for Michigan Department of Transportation and later the Wexford County Road Commissioner for a total of 35 years. After retirement Pat and his wife Donna spent their winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama and enjoyed lakefront living on Lake Mitchell in Cadillac during the summers. He was an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, helping build several homes. Pat was a long time member of the United Methodist Church in Cadillac. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf into his eighties. Pat was also an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was loved going out to his property with Donna and family during hunting season. He was a loyal and appreciative friend who valued his community and fellowship. Pat was proud of his Irish heritage. On November 25, 1983 he married Donna Jean Beck and she survives him along with children: Patrick McCormick of Cadillac, Debra McCormick of Gwinn, Steven (Lisa) McCormick of Manton, Todd (Carol) McCormick of Cadillac, Todd (Amy) Oatley of Rockford, Christine (Dan) Maldonado of Hudsonville; grandchildren: Justin (Nikki) McCormick, Gregory McCormick, Nicholas, Nathan, Madeline Oatley, Alex, Maria, Joseph Maldonado; great-grandchildren: Harlee, Gavin, Isabella, Mya; sister, Lonnie Herman of Ludington and brother-in-law, Dale DeVries. Pat was preceded in death by a sister, Janice DeVries. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 26, 2025 at the United Methodist Church in Cadillac. Friends may meet the family an hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
