Robert J. "Bob" Faunce

Robert J. "BobÃ¢â‚¬Â Faunce of Cadillac passed away Friday morning, March 10, 2017 at his home. He was 81. Bob was born on August 25, 1935 in Cadillac to William & Dorothy (Hodges) Faunce and they preceded him in death. Bob graduated from Cadillac High School in 1953 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force in the Air Police Division. After his service to our country her attended Michigan State University and later went to work for the Michigan Department of Transportation for 36 years retiring in 1994. Bob was a Life Member of the Cadillac Elks Lodge #680, Cadillac Country Club, American Legion Post #225 of Lansing, AMVETS Post #110 of Cadillac, the SPEBSQSA Barbershop Chorus, and the First Presbyterian Church of Cadillac for many years. Bob enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, morning coffee clutch, playing cards, music, and loved gathering with family and friends. He was known to have a great sense of humor and carried it right to the end. On May 24, 1958 in East Lansing Bob married the former Norma J. Mecord and she survives him along with their children: Cindy Miller of El Mirage, AZ, Rob Faunce & partner Carol of Traverse City, and Beth (John) Wallin of Cadillac; daughter-in-law, Dawn Whaley of Cadillac; 5 grandchildren: Angela (Chad) Richardson, Jackie Faunce, Jessica Faunce-Conkling, Christina (Chase) Reale and Kimberly (Todd) Foster; 9 great grandchildren; Bob's special buddy, Scott Benson of Tustin; 4 sisters: Dorothy Stenman, Judy (Rex) Smith all of Cadillac, Barbara Laino of Sun City, FL and Marjorie (Don) VanDyke of Ellenton, FL; and a brother-in-law, John Thurman of Petoskey and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas A. Faunce, a brother, William Faunce; 2 sisters: Marilyn Johnston and Mary Alice Whipple and a son-in-law, Jim Miller. Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM Monday (Today) March 13, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Cadillac with Reverend Paul Tomlinson officiating and full military rites under the auspices of the Cadillac Area Honor Guard. Bob's final resting place will be Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to Hospice of Michigan.
