Roger A. Husted

Roger Alan Husted of Cadillac passed away Saturday evening, January 13, 2018 at his home. He was 71. Roger was born November 6, 1946 in Cadillac to Elmer N. and Bernadean A. (Sundberg) Husted and they preceded him in passing. He graduated from Cadillac High School in 1964 and went on to attend college in Indianapolis. Roger then served in the United States Air Force for four years. After his services he moved around the State of Michigan several times before settling in Cadillac to raise his family. Roger worked for Xerox for 31 years and retired as a senior customer service technician. Throughout his career he was awarded several excellence in service awards. He was a life member of First Baptist Church in Cadillac where served in many capacities. Roger taught Sunday School, served as a deacon, was active in the choir and helped count money. He was a very humble man and was active in the lives of his children and the community. Roger served on the CASA board and was in charge of the baseball program for several years. He helped coach his sons' baseball teams and enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to fish and golf. Roger enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing and traveling with his family. His greatest joy was his role as "PapaÃ¢â‚¬Â to his grandchildren and he always put his family first. On May 6, 1972 he married the former Barbara Jane Lakies and she survives him along with their children: Chad (Angie) Husted of Temperance, Michigan, Ryan (Sharina) Husted of Maui, Hawaii and Becky (Dr. Kent) Bowden of Cadillac; grandchildren: Brandon, Riley, Malia, Lucas, Levi, Logan, Silas, Isaac, Elijah, Asher, Shiloh; siblings: Jeanette (Paul) Deller of Trenton, Char (Jim) Walker of Cadillac and Pam (Frank) Price of Reed City; brother-in-law, Doug Schwartz and in-laws: Ed (Gail) Lakies, Jim (Margaret) Lakies, Jean Lakies, Jerry Holmberg. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Valerie Schwartz; a brother, Norman (Judy) Husted and a sister-in-law, Joan Holmberg. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 20, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Cadillac with Reverends Chad Zaucha and Mike Stambaugh officiating. Friends may meet the family Friday from 4-7 PM at Peterson Funeral and Cremation Services in Cadillac. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
