Roger F. Johnson

On May 19, 2017 we lost our loving father, Roger F. Johnson after extended health issues. He was 88. \nHe passed peacefully to be with his loving wife Ruth of 60 years who went to be with the Lord in 2008. Dad missed Mom terribly and we feel a certain peace knowing they are once again together. Roger will be deeply missed by his family and there is great comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain. \nRoger was born on July 27, 1928 to Frank and Bessie Johnson and spent most all of his 88 years in the Cadillac area. He married the former Ruth Meyering in 1947 and spent the first part of their marriage working in construction. He then moved on to become shift supervisor for Cadillac Rubber and Plastics where he worked for more than 20 years. Roger continued to work by plowing snow in the winters for Council on Aging. Roger and Ruth loved going to and having garage sales in the summer.\nRoger was a gifted artist and a skilled woodworker. He enjoyed hunting for whitetails, trolling for walleye on Lake Cadillac, vintage cars and spoiling his cat, Oliver. His biggest pleasure though was spending time with and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Cadillac and United Methodist Church of Cadillac where he served as an offering counter for over 30 years. \nRoger leaves behind four children: Sue Hale of Cadillac, Dennis (Karol) Johnson of Montana, Janice (Gary) Dahlquist of Cadillac and Pam (Brian) DeBoer of McBain; eight grandchildren: LuAnn (Joe) Takens, Mark (Molly) Johnson, Heidi (Shane) Foster, Brent Dahlquist, Wendy (Josh) Wagner, Jordon Jones, Ryan Jones, Devin Johnson and eight great grandchildren: Keith, Kaya, Owen, Cooper, Tessa, Will, Nicholas, and Isaiah as well as many nieces and nephews. \nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; parents, Frank and Bessie and sister, Elaine VanWyk.\nFuneral services will be Twelve o'clock noon, Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Peterson Funeral and Cremation Services in Cadillac with Judy Coffey officiating. Friends may meet the family from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
