Albert Schepers of McBain passed away Sunday morning, February 10, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. He was 93. He was born March 9, 1919 in Lucas to Gilbert and Hattie (Ostendie) Schepers. Mr. Schepers served in the United States Army during World War II. After the war he worked on the Ann Arbor Railroad for over 30 years. He served on the McBain Fire Department for 42 years. Mr. Schepers was a member of the McBain Christian Reformed Church and was a custodian there for several years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and horses. On June 3, 1944 in Marion he married the former Stena Heuker and she survives him along with their children: Betty (Bob) Huizenga of Wyoming, Michigan, Shirley Huttenga of Byron Center, Kenneth (Paula) Schepers of Cadillac, Jerry (Joyce) Schepers of Lake City and Judy (Bernard) Eisenga of McBain; eleven grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 19 step great grandchildren; 18 step great-great grandchildren; a sister, Clara Kuipers of McBain and a sister in law, Marge Schepers of Wyoming, Michigan; in-laws: Anna (Nelson) DeYoung, Herm (Alice) Heuker, Susie Rittenger and Bertie (Ken) Agema; a step-brother, Teanis (Donna) Doornbos. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Carl; a brother, Gilbert Schepers; two sisters, Grace Felts and Edith Schaaf and a son in law, Don Huttenga. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the McBain Christian Reformed Church with Reverend Jacci Busch officiating. Friends may meet the family Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the Burkholder Funeral Home in McBain. Burial will be at Mount View Cemetery in McBain.
