Allen Reinke Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Allen Reinke of Battle Creek formerly of the Lake City and McBain area went home to be with his Lord at Tendercare of Marshall Tuesday, January 11, 2011. He was 80. He was born on January 30, 1930 in Elkton, South Dakota to Emil & Susan (Gregor) Reinke. He married the former Elsie Kroggman in March of 1955 in Elkton, South Dakota. \n\n Allen graduated with a Bachelors degree from South Dakota State. He taught biology for one year in South Dakota and also did some odd jobs. He joined the United States Marines and served two years active duty. While in the local area he was the Administrator for Farm Home Administration. Allen served on the Missaukee County Board of Commisioneers for 8 years, the Northern Michigan Substance Abuse and the Area Council on Aging and was active in Kawanis. He was a member of the Lake City First Presbyterian Church where he had served as clerk of session, was an elder, and was on the finance committee. He loved wood working, gardening, mowing the lawn, watching the Lawrence Welk show and collecting tractors and doing mechanical work on them.\n\n In December of 1975 he married the former Joan Dassey at the Lake City First Presbyterian Church and she survives him along with children: Elaine Reinke and her children: Michelle, John (Cassie) Reinke of Bentonville, Ark., Susan Reinke of Denver, CO, Evonne (Neil) Edgington and their children: Karen & Ian Edgington all of Omaha, Neb., Steven (Betty) Reinke and son Michael Reinke all of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jeffery Reinke of Surprise, AZ; stepson, Carter Bright of Battle Creek; siblings: Eleanor Roesler of Spencer, South Dakota, Evelyn Rice of Carmel, IN and Emmerson (Shirley) Dassey of Coleman. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Jennifer Bright, in-laws: Luther Dassey, Eldridge Roelser, and Glen Rice.\n\n Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Burkholder Funeral Home in McBain with Reverend Paul Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be at Aetna Township Cemetery in Missaukee County. Visitation will be Friday from 7-9 PM at the funeral home. An online guestbook is available at www.petersonfh.com.\n
