Betty Jean Baird Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Betty Jean Baird of Cadillac passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at The Lakeview in Cadillac. She was 87. She was born June 20, 1926 in Cadillac to Fred and Grace M. (Slocum) Ziegler. Mrs. Baird lived in Cadillac all her life and graduated from Cadillac High School in 1944. After high school she worked at Bolt Lumber as the executive secretary. She later attended Ferris Institute and Kirtland Community College as an art student. Mrs. Baird married Jack H. Baird on September 5, 1946 in Cadillac and became a stay at home mother. She was a life member of the Women's Association at the First Presbyterian Church and also sang in the choir there. She was a member of the Cadillac Area Artist Association and the Cadillac Philharmonic Club. Mrs. Baird is survived by her husband, Jack of Cadillac; son Richard (Leonor) Baird of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Barbara Baird of Cadillac; a step grandchild; a step great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, James Baird on July 17, 1993; two brothers, Fred and Robert Ziegler and two sisters, Lillian Veeder and Helen Taylor. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday September 27, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church in Cadillac with Reverend Paul Tomlinson and Reverend Russ Brandt officiating. Friends may meet the family Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
