Betty Burgess Mulkey

December 4, 1917 - October 15, 2012

Betty Burgess Mulkey of Cadillac passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 at her home. She was 94. She was born December 4, 1917 in Redford, Michigan to Roy H. and Kathleen (Quarterman) Burgess. On October 30, 1943 she married John M. Mulkey in Redford, Michigan and he preceded her in death on June 4, 1994. Prior to living in Cadillac Betty had lived in Redford, Detroit, Flint, Glen Lake, Michigan, Washington D.C., Pocatello, Idaho, Manistee, Michigan, Wyoming, New York, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Deerfield, Illinois. She was a homemaker and enjoyed driving the ski boat on Glen Lake. She was involved in PEO in Utah and Illinois as well as serving on the Board of Deerfield, Illinois Women\'s Club. Betty was involved in various activities in Cadillac such as, Daybreak and Christian Women\'s Club in Cadillac and was a member of the First Christian Church. She was a great cook and also enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, music and pets. She is survived by her children: Nancy Sue Mulkey of Cadillac, Robert J. Mulkey of Cadillac and William C. (Margret) Mulkey of St. Charles, Illinois; grandchildren, Russell and Lucas Mulkey; a sister Nancy Hoydal of Mount Clemens, Michigan and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, John, she was preceded in death by a brother Roy H. Burgess, Jr. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Reverend Kenneth Pastotnik officiating. Friends may meet the family from 5-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Daybreak Adult Care Center (Wexford County Council on Aging).
