Bryce Lee VanderVlugt

August 5, 1934 - February 21, 2011

Bryce Lee VanderVlugt of Cadillac died Monday, February 21, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. He was 76. He was born August 5, 1934 in Cadillac to Hans and Bertha Irene (Holmberg) VanderVlugt. He married Pauline Mae Bidelman on July 30, 1966 in Cadillac and she preceded him in death August 13, 2005. Mr. VanderVlugt had lived all his life in the Cadillac area. He worked for fourteen years at Kraft Foods in Cadillac, at Delfield for over ten years and at Kysor for over ten years, retiring in 1998. He was a true Detroit sports fan of the Lions and Tigers and loved to run his beagles. He enjoyed hunting, bird hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Cadillac Wesleyan Church, now the Northern Lights Church of Cadillac. He is survived by his sons; Chuck (Renee) Kill of McBain, Ken (Julie) Kill of Brant, MI and Rick (Deanna) Kill of Pinconning, MI, daughters; Cheri (Doug) Nelson of Cadillac and Lisa (Kevin) Sisson of Lake City; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great- grandchildren; sister and brothers; Florence (Ted) Hargreaves, Barney (Doris) VanderVlugt and Chic (Bessie) VanderVlugt all of Cadillac and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline and a sister, Ruth Bouwma. Funeral services with full military rites under the auspices of the Cadillac Area Honor Guard will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Northern Light Church in Cadillac with Rev. John M. Mellish officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
