Cheryl Benthem Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Cheryl \"Cheri\" Benthem, of McBain, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012, at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and is resting peacefully in the arms of her loving savior Jesus Christ. She was 56. She was born in Grand Rapids on November 16, 1955, to Rich and Jeneva (Wiers) Kramer. She married Mark Benthem on August 22, 1975, at the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church. Cheri loved the Lord with all her heart and was a strong Christian example to all she met. She will be greatly missed. If anyone belongs to Christ, then he shall be made new, 2Cor.5:17 Cheri was a very active member of the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church. She loved her grandchildren and most of her activities centered around her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Mark Benthem of McBain; children, Derek (Christy) Benthem of Klaipeda, Lithuania, Jodi (Randy) Oosterheert of Allendale, and Abby (Drew) Martin of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Anika, Larson and Charlotte Benthem, and Rylan and Alyssa Oosterheert; parents, Rich and Jen Kramer of Vogel Center, siblings, Sandy (Terry) Lutke of Vogel Center, and Rick (Nancee) Kramer of Jenison; in-laws, Phyllis (Larry) Vredevoogd of Cutlerville, Paul (Brenda) Benthem of McBain, Susan (Phil) Hathaway of Cascade, Edith (David) Bain of Eagan, Minn., Doug (Vonn) Benthem, Laura (Greg) Hesselink, and Bruce (Karen) Benthem, all of McBain; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Trena Benthem. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. Duane Timmermans officiating. Burial will be in Lucas Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at the Burkholder Funeral Home in McBain and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.
