Clarice M. Bryan of Cadillac passed away Monday evening, February 10, 2014 at the Curry House Assisted Living and Memory Care in Cadillac. She was 87. She was born on February 1, 1927 in Kettering, Northhamptonshire, England to Mark & Maude Brooks. Clarice came to the United States from England in 1944 after marring Vincent Vollmar of Chicago. She traveled to the states as a war bride and remained a member of the War Brides Association for most of her life. Vincent preceded her in death in 1965. Clarice had many loves including her gardens, skiing, tennis, golf, sewing and cooking, but her greatest joy came from her involvement with her children and grandchildren. She created a beautiful home for her family and friends and will always be remembered for the many wonderful meals she provided and the warmth she created in her home. Mrs. Bryan was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Cadillac where one of her pleasures was participating in the choir. In 1970 she married William Bryan and he survives her along with her sons: Jerry (Nancy) Vollmar and Tim (Mary) Vollmar all of Cadillac; step-son, Jim (Marcy) Bryan of Foley, AL; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, John Brooks of Sydney, Australia. In addition to her parents and first husband she was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Tony and Clare Brooks; a sister, Marion Pallin and a grandson, Tony Vollmar. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial celebration of life gathering will be held in the spring.
