Darrel L. Dutcher

Darrel L. Dutcher of Cadillac passed away Sunday evening, July 20, 2014 at his home. He was 81. He was born on June 16, 1933 in Mount Pleasant to Roy S. & Eva M. (Langworthy) Dutcher and they preceded him in death. Darrel graduated from Cedar Lake Academy in Cedar Lake, Michigan in 1951. He graduated from Central Michigan University in 1970 with his Bachelor's degree and later received his Master's degree in 1973 also from Central Michigan. He went to work at Dow Chemical for 13 years and became a Journeymen Electrician before he left there and moved to the Cadillac area to help start the Career Tech Center here and taught there for several years. Darrel then went to teach with the Lake City Public School System for 21 years and retired in 1995. He enjoyed motorcycling, skiing, river fishing, writing poetry, woodcrafts, restoring and refinishing boats and cars and the breakfast club at the Big Boy. He was a member of the Seventh day Adventist Church of Cadillac. On November 16, 1952 in Mount Pleasant he married the former Anita M. Jackson and she survives him along with their three daughters: Debra Dutcher of Cadillac, Pamela Dutcher of Gaylord and Darrelyn (Steve) Wolf of Camarillo, CA; 2 grandsons: Trevor and Brandon Wolf; a brother, Duane (Dana) Dutcher and a sister, Althea Pefferly both of California . In accordance with Darrel's wishes cremation has taken place and his final resting place will be Riverside Cemetery in Mount Pleasant with a private graveside service held there.
