David John "David J" Barry Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

David John "David JÃ¢â‚¬Â Barry of Mesick, formerly of Flint, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 at his home. He was 63. He was born August 26, 1950 in Flint to John Frances and Pauline Emma (Hackney) Barry and they preceded him in death. Dave served in the United States Army and was a veteran of Vietnam. He was a police officer for many years, spending over 20 years as an officer for Grand Blanc Township. He moved to the area permanently six years ago and enjoyed hunting, fishing and University of Michigan Football Games. He was always there for his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Heather; children: Sandy (Brian) Loken of Kalamazoo, Mike (Monica) Barry of Grand Blanc, Patrick (Becky) Barry of Farmington Hills, Jennie Barry of Northville, Dwayne Barry of San Diego, California, Robyn Kretzschmer of Flint and Alex Kretzschmer of Flint; ten grandchildren; sisters: Connie (Dan) Forsythe, Nancy (Mike) Glover and Paula (Denny) Whipple all of Flint, many nieces and nephews and his law enforcement family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Peggy McDowell. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Mayo Clinic in honor of Dave. Arrangements were made by the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
