Donald D. Mulder

October 5, 1937 - August 21, 2011

MCBAIN - Donald D. Mulder, age 73, of McBain, went home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2011 at Cadillac Mercy Hospital. He was born on October 5, 1937 in Clam Union Township, Missaukee County to Rikus (Pat) and Lois (Becker) Mulder. He married Elnora Oudman on October 5, 1955 in McBain. Mr. Mulder had worked for the Missaukee County Road Commission for 22 years before beginning a career in auto sales. He lived by his motto, “Treat a customer right, you\'ll have a customer for life.†He went to Great Lakes Naval Reserves and was a member of the reserves. He also was a volunteer firefighter for McBain. He was an avid hunter of deer, mushrooms and berries. He also enjoyed his time meeting his friends at the coffee shop and enjoyed cooking. His before-church breakfasts on Sunday were famous. He valued all the time with all his family very much. He was a charter member of the Northland Community Church and served as a greeter for many years. He is survived by his wife, Elnora Mulder, of McBain; children, Susan (Donald) Heuker and Douglas (Lynn) Mulder, both of McBain; six grandchildren, Jonathan (Jamie) Heuker of Cadillac, Mindy (Brandon) Fewless of Cadillac, Abbie Heuker and friend Shane Flynn of McBain, Troy Heuker and friend Meagan Baty of Petoskey, Trent (Jana) Mulder of Cadillac and Shaun (Courtney) Mulder of Lake City; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Harold \'Butch\' Mulder of Lake City; sister, Teresa Mulder of Cadillac; in-laws, Judy Oudman of McBain and Nancy Mulder of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Mulder; brothers-in-law, Alvin Oudman and Robert Oudman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Nellie Oudman; and step-father-in-law, Bill Kamphouse. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at the Northland Community Church, with Rev. Randy Jenkins officiating. Interment will take place at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Mount View Cemetery in McBain. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the church and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Homes. Arrangements are by Burkholder Funeral Home in McBain. An online guestbook is available at www.petersonfh.com.
