Doris Jane Helmboldt Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Doris Jane Helmboldt, age 81, of McBain and Lake City went home to be with the Lord at Cadillac Mercy Hospital on February 7, 2011. Doris was born on July 24, 1929 in Richland Township, Missaukee County, to Richard and Jennie (Yonkman) Meyering. She married Albert â€œJuneâ€ Helmboldt Jr. on May 14, 1948 at the McBain United Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1996. Doris had attended Beauty College and had run a beauty shop in McBain for more than 15 years. She also had worked at Riverside Electric in Marion for several years. She was a member of the Lake City Presbyterian Church, and had served as an elder in both Lake City and McBain; she also was on the session, Mary Circle, Esther Circle, had been city treasurer at Lake City, member of the McBain Larkin Club, loved to play euchre and canasta, and she had been a member of the ladies\' card club in McBain for years. She also enjoyed crocheting, collecting cups and dolls, and many other things. She had sold Sarah Coventry Jewelry. She loved babies and totally enjoyed her grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Jeff (Patricia) Helmboldt of Cheboygan, Mike (Naomi) Helmboldt of Falmouth, Mary Jane Teed of McBain, and Patrick (Sandy) Helmboldt of Cadillac; grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Douglas, Jeffery Helmboldt Jr., Jessica (Adam) Clifford, Melissa (Dennis) Boyer, Douglas (Jessica) Helmboldt Jr., Christopher (Natalia) Armstead, Gabrielle (Dan) Goss, Courtney (Eric) Culp, Jennie Teed and Justin Eubank, Katie Teed, David Albert Teed, Laura (Jessie) Taylor, Patrick Helmboldt Jr., and Denny Behrns; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, Bernard (Sandra) Meyering of McBain; in-laws, Roger Johnson of Cadillac, Beverly Helmboldt of Lansing, Gerald Helmboldt of Flint, and Nancy (Delmar) Bell of Grand Blanc. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Douglas Helmboldt; granddaughter, Elizabeth Helmboldt; son-in-law, David Teed; siblings, Harvey (Gertrude) Meyering, Anna (Bill) Gray, Ruby Johnson, Edna (Darwin) Ranville; half-siblings, Dena Taggert, Sarah Brunink and Elmer Meyering; and in-laws, Harold Helmboldt, Amelia Helmboldt, Loran Helmboldt and Juanita Helmboldt. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Lake City Presbyterian Church, with Rev. David Weber officiating. Burial will be at Mount View Cemetery in McBain. Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the Burkholder Funeral Home in McBain. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lake City Presbyterian Church.
