Dorothy Makowski Makowski Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dorothy Makowski of Cadillac passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at The Lakeview. She was 86. She was born February 1, 1928 in Detroit to John and Anna (Formella) Makowski. Dorothy worked at Chrysler in the purchasing department for many years before moving to Cadillac in the 1980's to live with her brother Edward. Dottie had a very strong faith and was a longtime member of St. Ann Catholic Church and prayed the rosary daily. She was a former member of Chrysler Girls Club, Ladies Bowling League and Golf League. She was a member of the Moose Lodge #531 in Cadillac and enjoyed spending time with friends playing Bingo there. Dottie enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino and stuffed animals; which she frequently gave to children. She was an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions fan and also enjoyed fishing, old movies and video games. As a child Dottie enjoyed summers at her parents' lake cottage with all the cousins. Dottie is survived by her nieces: Ann Marie Vido, Debbie Vido and Sandy (Fred) Dodge all of Detroit; extended family, Dan (Kristy) Prince and Frances Carpenter all of Cadillac and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward and Anthony Makowski and a sister, Angeline Vido. The Mass of Christian burial will be held d 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac. Friends may meet the family Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac. Entombment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.
