Duwayne D. Malmstrom Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Duwayne D. Malmstrom of Cadillac died Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. He was 80. He was born in Cadillac on October 25, 1930 to Ernest and Erna Malmstrom. He married Jean Lois (Zacharias) Jensen on Oct. 25, 1969 in Cadillac and she preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2011. Duwayne had lived in the Cadillac area all his life and graduated from Tustin High School in 1949. He drove a truck for Jack Franke and was employed for Michigan Bell Telephone for 37 Â½ years retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, raising beagles, motorcycles and camping. He loved his grand and great- grandchildren and was the #1 Detroit Tiger Baseball fan. He is survived by his children: Brian (Dawn) Jensen of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Janet (Gary) McDill, Sandra (Patrick) Helmboldt, Deborah Jensen and Vicky (Robert) Armstrong all of Cadillac, a half son, Randy (Patty) Fredericks of Cheboygan; grandchildren: Monica (Scott) Smith, Heather (Paul) Gravelyn, Dennis Behrns, Jamie Jensen, Chadley (Jackie) Jensen, and Dave, Anthony and Craig Fredericks; 14 great-grandchildren and special nieces: Linda (Gary) Jorgenson, Shirley (Norman) Dennis and Darene (Tom) Skook and his beloved Shih-tzu\'s Little Dolly, Chloe, Sassy and Sissie, who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and five brothers; Alvin, Everett and Herbert Malmstrom and Ernest and Elmar Symanski. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, August 26, 2011at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Elder Robert Keeler officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
