E. Joyce Larner

June 14, 1925 - February 3, 2014

E. Joyce (Nicholls) Larner of Cadillac passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 at her home at Pleasant Pines AFC. Joyce passed from this earth to spend eternity in Heaven with her Lord and Savior. She was born on June 14, 1925 in Vermontville, Michigan to Orlo & Grace (Decker) Ehret. Joyce grew up an only child on a farm in Nashville, Michigan and graduated from Nashville High School in 1943. In December of 1951 she married the father of her children Charles F. Nicholls in Battle Creek. She later married Belvin H. Larner on August 24, 1968 in Mason and he preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 2006. Throughout her adult life Joyce held several different secretarial positions with her favorite being at the very first Family Life Radio station in Mason. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, quilting, visiting family and friends and loving on her little Yorkies, Dee Dee and Piti. After retirement Joyce and Belvin served with "Roving Volunteers in Christ's Service (RVICS) traveling with their trailer throughout the United States to work at various non-profit Christian organizations. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Bob) Shankland of Cadillac and their sons: Andrew (Rebecca) Shankland and Timothy & Peter Shankland; her son, Bruce Nicholls of DeWitt and his sons: Caleb and Gabriel Nicholls; two great grandchildren: Lillian and Noah; her step-children: Sue Cheney of Arizona, Cynthia (Larry) Brownlee of Leslie, MI, Terry (Patti) Larner of Perry, MI and Jerry (Maggie) Larner of Tennessee; 12 step grandchildren and many step great grandchildren. According to her wishes cremation has taken place and interment of her ashes will be in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Nashville, Michigan with a private graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of First Baptist Church in Cadillac or to the Missaukee Humane Society in Lake City. An online guestbook is available at www.petersonfh.com.
