Elizabeth Jean DeView Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Elizabeth J. "LizÃ¢â‚¬Â DeView of Cadillac passed away Wednesday morning, May 15, 2013 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was 74. She was born on May 6, 1939 in Kalamazoo to Claude L. and Margaret J. (Bird) Spoor. Elizabeth graduated from Cadillac High School in 1957 and earned a Registered Nursing diploma from Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. She worked as a nurse at Henry Ford Hospital for five years before becoming a flight attendant with United Airlines. She retired from the airline in 2004 after 36 years of service, during which time she traveled many parts of the United States, Europe and China. She will be missed by the many friends she made through the Jazzercise classes she attended faithfully for over 20 years as well as the many friends she made during her career. On March 17, 1973 she married Richard L. "DickÃ¢â‚¬Â DeView and he survives her along with three children: Richard (Holly) DeView, R. Mitchell DeView and Marney DeView all of Cadillac; five grandchildren; her mother, Margaret Spoor of Cadillac; three sisters: Joan (Bernard) Geers of McBain, Merry Richardson of Cadillac, and Ruth (Daniel) Seelye of Albion; five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, and a brother, Stephan Spoor. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Parish Assistant Judy Coffey officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac. Friends may meet the family from 6-8 PM Thursday (today) at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Mercy Hospice, or to the charity of your choice.
