Evelyn Lucetta Torry- Simpson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Evelyn Lucetta Torry- Simpson of Tustin passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at The Lakeview. She was 86. She was born August 14, 1927 in Tustin, Michigan to William Rudolph Fritz and Adeline Fern (Beebe) Meyers. Evelyn lived most all her life in the Tustin area; she graduated from Luther Agricultural School in 1946. She cleaned houses and the offices at Network Reporting for many years. She was a volunteer at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, traveling and was an avid reader. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Reed City and participated in Bible studies there. She also volunteered at the Church food pantry. She is survived by her children: Susan (Larry) Johnson of Lake city, Kay (Gordon) Reed of Cadillac, Janet (Harold) Green, Jr. of Traverse City, Paula (Rocky) Sharp of Boon, Martin (Roxanne) Torry of Cadillac, Mark (Mary) Torry of Lake City, Mason (Marie) Torry of Gypsum, Colorado, Gae (Don) Church of Reed City and Roger (LaVon) Simpson of Hodgenville, Kentucky; 21 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Vernon and Clinton Meyers; husband, Homer Simpson in 1996 and previous husband Marvin Lawrence Torry in 2011. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Reed City with Reverend Dawn Pooley officiating. Her final resting place will be Burdell Township Cemetery in Tustin. Memorial contributions may be made to Reed City Food Pantry c/o St. Paul Lutheran Church.
