Frances Bekken Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Frances Bekken, of McBain, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Cadillac Mercy Hospital. She was 82. She was born on November 17, 1930, in Richland Township, Missaukee County, on the family farm on Stoney Corners Road to Evart Edward and Anna (Ensing) Bekken. Fran graduated from the McBain Rural Agricultural School in 1947 and had worked for many years at Riverside Electric in Marion and then at Kmart in Cadillac. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at McBain, where she had been church custodian for many years. She loved the outdoors and working in her flower garden. She did crocheting and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. She is survived by two children, Kelly (Barb) Bekken of McBain, and Lisa (Scott) St. Arnold of Sand Lake. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mallory, Maggie, Olivia, and Sarah; siblings, Gert Marcus, Ed Bekken of McBain, and Ken (Iva) Bekken of Marion; and stepbrothers and stepsisters, Kathleen Elenbaas of Manistee, Dorothy Sheldon of Flint, Joan Elenbass of Bay City, Harold (Pat) Elenbaas of Otsego, Ray (Angie) Elenbaas of Jenison, Marian Elenbaas of Grandville, Anita Elenbaas of Plant City, Fla., and many other relatives. Preceded by many relatives, her parents, stepfather, Richard Elenbaas, Edith and Quinton Quist, Elton Sheldon, Clayton Elenbaas, Claude Marcus, Marv Elenbaas, Web Elenbaas, Gordon Elenbaas, and Art and Mae Elenbaas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the McBain Baptist Church with Chaplain James Siler officiating with burial to follow in the Mount View Cemetery at McBain and a luncheon will follow at the McBain Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Visitation will be at the Burkholder Funeral Home in McBain from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday.
