Fred A. Mida of Leroy passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, at his home. He was 92. Fred was born November 25, 1921, in Detroit, Michigan, to Albert Carl and Clementine (Neminski) Mida. On November 3, 1971, in Benzonia, Michigan, he married the former Margie A. Messer and she preceded him in death on June 15, 2013. Mr. Mida served in the Army Air Corp as a 2nd Lt. Pilot during World War II. He had owned several coin laundries in the area before retiring. Fred enjoyed gardening, hiking in the woods, hunting, making maple syrup, and in the past raised Belgium horses and cattle. He had also been involved with the Buckley Old Engine Show for over 40 years and served as treasurer for many years. He is survived by children: Christal (Kenneth) Hill of Grand Haven, June (Jeff) Wesley of Chicago, David Smith of Vermont and Fred P. Mida of Arizona; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; siblings, Lois Zilka, Roseann Bazzell, Roland Mida and sister in law, Betty Mida. In addition to his parents and wife Mr. Mida was also preceded in death by his siblings: Melvin Stockdale, Herbert Mida, Albert Mida and Caroline Sherwood.
