Genevieve "Genny" (Leach) Peterson

September 25, 1946 - December 2, 2011

Genevieve \"Genny\" (Leach) Peterson passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was 65. She was born in Kalamazoo on September 25, 1946 to Francis Alfred and Maureen (Boven) Leach and they preceded her in death. Genny had grown up in Falmouth and had lived in the Mesick area for the last 30 years. She had worked for cherry growers in Traverse City for many years. Genny loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors. Genny had been a member of the AMVETS Auxiliary of Mesick. To those who knew her as a child she will always be known as Babe. She is survived by her children: James Peterson of Mesick, Carl Douglas (Lori) Peterson of Florida and Amy DePue (fianc� Kevin Green) of White Cloud; grandchildren Mikyla, Kaitlin, Nicole, Jack, Alex, Rachael, Tyler, Allie, Devin, Christian, Angel and Alecia; sisters: Mary Ann Leach of Cadillac, Louise (Leo) Brougham of Grand Rapids and Sharon (Dan) VanHaitsma of Cadillac. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by son-in-law John DePue and an infant son, Scott. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Mesick Rescue Training Center at 2:00 PM with Pastor Teresa Acker officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
