George A. Bodwin, Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

George A. Bodwin, Jr. of Cadillac passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 19, 2012. He was 58. George was born September 26, 1954 in St. Ignace, Michigan to George A., Sr. and Doris Almeda (Cowell) Bodwin and was raised on Mackinac Island, Michigan. He married Kathryn A. (Palmer) Bodwin in March of 1975. He worked for the City of Mackinac Island Dept. of Public Works for 15 years and was a fireman on the island for many years. In 1990, he moved to Cadillac and worked for the Wexford County Dept. of Public Works for over 21 years, and was happy to have recently taken a job with Pearson Drilling Company of Lake City. He was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Bode loved fishing with his brother-in-laws and spending time with his best friends Roger and Keiren â€œGuppieâ€ Borgeson at their cabin on the Betsie River. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; daughters Rebecca (Doug) Bigger of Gwinn, and Kate Smith of NYC and son Benjamin Bodwin of Lansing; grandchildren DJ, Matt, Max, Daniel, Ryan and Kyra Bigger and Jaelyn and Jackson Bodwin; parents George and Almeda Bodwin of Manton; sisters Jacklin (Dennis) Bradley of Mackinac Island; Bonnie (Jim) Baker of Corunna; Martha (Darwin) Hughey of St. Ignace; Midge (Kevin) Ginter of Grand Rapids; father-in-law Joseph Palmer; brother-in-laws Michael (Carole) Palmer; David (Chris) Palmer; sister-in-laws Patricia (Ken) Modzeleski; and Karilyn (Norm) Wiersma all of Grand Rapids; many nieces and nephews; and best friends Roger and Guppie Borgeson of Kalamazoo. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at the Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center in Cadillac.
